 Captain Spotting Scope - A1115 - The Captain Spotting Scope is a larger version of LittleMak. Its optical design (with multi coated optics) is Maksutov Gregorian This design does not require the use of additional lenses, mirrors or prisms to give a fully erect image. Thus, this instrument is more rugged, because there is no erecting system to come out of alignment. Another important feature of this LOMO Spotting Scope is that this instrument uses a mirror to magnify the image not a lens. A lens will produce false colors (chromatic aberration) and field curvature. It won't be as sharp at the edge of the field of view as at the center, but the Captain does not have this problem, it is as sharp at the edge as it is in the center. This produces a tack sharp image. Ideal for hunters, fisherman, boaters, birders, nature enthusiasts, mountain climbers, etc.Finish: black rubber armored.
